Revenge is a dish best served…on ebay?

This bride has found an innovative way of funding the legal costs of her divorce: selling her dress on ebay! Not necessarily a route for every potential divorcee but it does highlight the issue of how hard it can be to find the money for what can be the very high cost of funding a divorce.  As a divorce lawyer, I am able to offer a variety of payment options to my clients: I don’t take wedding dresses but do discuss a range of different possibilities:  monthly payments, an interim release of funds from the family ‘pot’, loans from family or friends or for those with money tied up in a marital home: litigation loans from specialised lenders. The way these work is to release a sum of money to fund the case, with only the interest on the loan to be paid along the way until the house sells. The priority for me is to have a clear, open conversation with my client right at the outset about what their case is likely to cost and how this will be paid: that way there are no nasty surprises for anyone!

A woman selling her wedding dress on eBay says she will use the cash to fund her divorce, after her husband left her and moved in with another woman.
Samantha Wragg, of Chesterfield is 'mainly selling as I need to pay for my divorce which my ex-husband has left me to foot the bill for'.
Ms Wragg, who is 28, says her parents bought her the size six dress for 'around £2,000' in 2014.
'Its in great condition but needs dry cleaning before wearing to get rid of the stench of betrayal', adding that she did not have time to have it cleaned before her husband 'decided to call an end to our marriage'.
She added: 'If you want a dress that is full of bad memories and shattered hopes and dreams then this is the one for you!
